Install the app
Password2QR runs two ways: right here in the browser with nothing installed, or as an installed app that works fully offline. Both run the same calculation on your device, and a password created in one can be restored in the other.
Desktop app (Windows)
The desktop app works offline by design: every asset ships inside the application and passwords are processed on your device only.
The installer is currently unsigned, so Windows SmartScreen warns on first run (“More info” → “Run anyway”). Verify the download first: its SHA-256 checksum is listed with each version on the releases page. macOS and Linux builds are not published yet — use the installable web app below.
Phone and tablet — installable web app
The installable app lives at https://app.password2qr.com on its own origin, so its offline storage is isolated from this website. Open it there and install:
iPhone / iPad (Safari)
Open the app in Safari, tap Share → “Add to Home Screen”. Installed Safari apps can use storage separate from the browser tab, so run the offline-readiness check inside the installed app.
Android (Chrome)
Open the app, then menu → “Install app” / “Add to Home screen”.
Desktop browsers (Chrome, Edge)
The web app can also be installed from the browser: use the install icon in the address bar or the browser menu → “Install Password2QR”.
Other browsers
Without installation the website still works while connected. Verified offline use requires the installed app: open it and wait for “Ready for offline use”.
After installing
The desktop app runs its local-engine self-check on every start. For the installable web app, open it once while connected and let its offline-readiness check finish. Only then disconnect and test: create a synthetic password, export its QR, clear it, and restore it locally. Instructions are on each app’s home screen.
